My granddaughter knows I cannot stay within the lines whenever we play with her crayons, markers, and coloring books. If truth be told, I have trouble drawing a straight line with a ruler. However, I have no difficulty appreciating the talent and creativity artists display.

Over the past year I have developed an interest in street art. Let me rephrase that. The combination of the different media and styles; the vibrant visual appeal; the effective use of
public space and vacant buildings; the connectivity to the local community; the ephemeral nature of most pieces; the messages and commentaries artists weave into their work; and the ongoing evolution of the movement has awakened in me a fascination for street art.

Artists here in Baltimore are wildly creative and incredibly talented as evidenced by recent street art projects as well as by the works found on the kaleidoscopic walls of Graffiti Alley, various rail yards, bridge underpasses, and condemned buildings. In addition to our local talent, street artists from all around the world come to Baltimore to paint.

I hope you enjoy the “wow-way-cool” factor of the art pieces in these galleries as much as I do.

Note: The artwork you see in these galleries is the creative property of the individual artist. My photos of their artwork are unavailable for resale.
